NEWS UPDATES

NEWS from the NEWMANS

Wednesday, 8 January 2006
On the phone:
Jason: What are you doing?
Heisu: I'm talking about!

Friday, 2 December 2005
Heisu is starting to English quite well now. She says cute stuff like "Where is it Mummy" for "Where's Mummy" and "Look at that me" for "Look at me". Heisu can sing "Santa Claus is coming to Town" but of course in Korean.

But I can see why they call it the terrible twos, cos my gosh she gets nasty at times. We'll set up a website and put some pitchers on it, of Heisu and Sammi, some time soon. Well, actually, this is it, such as it is.

Monday, 14 November 2005
Things are going swimmingly. Its now just after 6:00 in the morning here, I have just arrived in our school office. We currently plan to come back to New Zealand at the end of next year for some time. Heisu and Sammi are fine. Heisu is running about like a madman and talking and singing and dancing and screaming and scaring the pants off Sammi although of course she doesn't mean to.

24 October 2005
Things are going okay...except however, Sammi has been in hospital since Friday with pneumonia. She is doing better than expected, however, and may be discharged early (by Wednesday). But one month old (exactly-she was admitted on the 21st of Oct) is a bit too young. She has difficulty coughing (she's only been breathing for a few weeks). Heisu really loved the teddies Anna sent! We are now descending into the depths of winter (autumn is very brief) hence all the colds and whathaveyou. We've all have a cold at the moment (either that or pneumonia).

MUM AND DAD

Monday, 12 December 2005
...were working most of the weekend. Took a couple of hours off to go to the sounds and have a look at the progress. The house now has a roof, the windows will be going in this week and it will be covered in for Christmas. Which means of course, they will be painting the outside over the Christmas break. "The only part of Christmas I am looking forward to is the day after when all the rush is over for a few days", says Mum.

Tuesday, 18 Oct 2005
The Nanas came the day before, and everyone watched our movies which arrived the same day. Mum thinks Sammi is such a bright wee thing and would love to give her a cuddle. They all loved the part when she opened the parcel from Aunty Anna and put the dress and hat on and went to the mirror. Mum is still working on our their video camera. When we do get a video, there will be footage from Larry's 50th, Lorissa's 30th, Toddy's 7th, the Sounds, Anna leaving on her trip. etc. etc.

DAVID AND ROBIN

Thursday, 10 November 2005
...forwarded their congratulations, and hoped Sammi is doing well now, being crook at such an early age is not too good. Uncle David worries about things like bird flu etc, "although you may not be any worse off there than here anyhow, a lot of it is probably inflated by the media - like that's never happened before!!"

They are "plodding along as usual", David is still doing the night shift at Air Nelson, and has just been through courses for the new aircraft they are getting there. Robyn is working afternoons at a surveying company in town doing clerical, so, David get up after night shift in time to take over looking after Aydan (Elyse is at school), Robyn goes to work and they swap over again for the evening. He describes it as "pretty boring, although now and again I do get a night off!"

THE SEELEYS

Saturday, 10 December 2005
There's lots of snow in Mark's town. Young Ji has been busy shoveling the driveway. Annie is doing fine. She is a "Spark" - a junior Girl Guide and she takes figure skating lessons once a week. Mark is currently in the process of looking for meaningful employment. He misses Korea: "Sometimes it's best not to dwell on what once was. Don't misunderstand me - I like it here. But life was so much easier over there. The money, the respect, the utter uniqueness!"

THE ADOXISTS

Friday, 2 December 2005
The Adoxist Society is still humming along, we have our monthly book swaps at Seattle's Best. And sometimes people come! Join these discussions if you dare on our blogsite (see below). There's discussions on religion, amongst other things.
